Hello Happy Campers,

Well, time sure has flown by since camp! It seems like yesterday that we were all at Silver Meadows; sleeping in dorms (or tents), water skiing on Lake Nakimum, and hanging out around the campfire. The weather wasn’t warm, in fact Willy is still convinced we invited him to “Winter Camp,” but the smiles and hugs were.

With increased numbers of teen campers this year, and a pre-teen program mid week, Silver Meadows seemed fuller than ever. We had numerous visitors throughout the week and on the weekend, including friends, family, and old campers.

Camp Director, Jenny

The week started off with a bang as the campers participated in “The Amazing Race camp-style.” Pretty sure no one suspected you could get so many campers on one little square tile…ah, team work! The activities seemed to all go smoothly. Willy, our South African import, introduced us to the sport of cricket despite being quite aghast at our “cricket pitch.” With the addition of a new boat this year, water skiing was once again a hit (says me, who was as snug as a bug in a rug back at camp…a little chilly down there I heard, but still pretty fantastic). Our wall of many colors again had a degree of challenge, but nothing our top notch climber couldn’t handle. And arts and crafts…what can I say about that other than I have never seen so many campers so happy to be painting...well done ladies!

Our theme this year was Me, We, He and this theme was developed during our Christian Living classes, through the day in various forms, and during evening Tipi time. We also spent time learning about the Lord’s Prayer and understanding how it can act as a reference point in our daily lives. Willy brought his “eye can” to help us focus on what we can do, not what we think we can’t do. It was amazing how often we limited ourselves in our own minds before we even give something a chance.

Anyway, from whale related wake-up songs, to camp wide pillow fights, to tug-of-wars (who won that again this year…I think campers vs. staff is officially tied up at one to one), to all the great food, camp 2009 really rocked. And of course no one will forget the awesome dance…not going to lie, everyone really stepped up to the plate and brought out their true fancy pants and big hair!

Well, as I run out of space I just wanted to wish everyone a good couple of months. Please feel free to e-mail me or call me at any point; I’d love to talk to you. Stayed turned for details regarding a camp reunion in the spring and until then have a great and peaceful time.

Love Jenny
