Hello Happy Campers,
Monday, May 10, 2010
I hope you have all marked your calendars for July 4th - 11th this year cause camp is going to “Rock” our theme for this year is STORM CHALLENGE ROCK. We will be focusing on how we can live a satisfying life in the present and how when bad things do happen to good people we can lean on God as our strength and our rock to get us through the storms of life.
Once again, we are running a pre-teen camp concurrently with the youth camp, so the younger campers will be joining us for the Monday through Wednesday. They will be enjoying arts and crafts, ball sports, mini Christen Living sessions, and of course a trip to the Barrhead pool!
All the beloved activities are back this year including wall climbing, all terrain biking, and water skiing. We are looking at refining the schedule so that each dorm has more time down at the lake, giving each camper greater opportunity to try out their fancy water skiing moves. Hopefully the weather cooperates and we get some beautiful July days to hang out in the sun. I don’t know about you, but my tan could use some work.
This year we are looking at making camp a little more technologically advanced, with the opportunity for campers and staff to contribute to a camp blog throughout the week. Also, stay tuned to the Silver Meadows Camp Facebook page as we will be running a contest that will allow each camper to earn canteen bucks. Mmmmmm…spritzers!
Please note that we have several scholarship opportunities available for individuals who have never been to camp before, but who could benefit from spending a week focused on strengthening our relationship with our Lord and Savior. To qualify for a scholarship, the interested individual needs to write a letter saying why they want to come to Silver Meadows Camp this year, what they think they could get from the experience, and how they could contribute to everyone having a Christ Center fulfilling week. If you know of someone who may be interested in this opportunity, please get in contact with me at any point.
OK, last but not least is the dance theme for this year. From Disco in 2009 to Country and Western in 2010, bring along a set of pink tasseled pants and a cowboy hat for our last night dance; a good old fashion “Ho Down”. Be creative in your outfits; everything from Rodeo Princesses to large belt buckle are sure to be found in the crowd.
Applications can be found online here... Feel free to contact me at any point with question, concerns, or suggestions you might have. I can be reached via e-mail at salttoday@yahoo.co.uk, on Facebook, or at home at: 780.618.5106.
So looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Love Jenny
